Welcome to Gower Lavender, where the products are handmade, local and lovely, and the planet is at the heart of everything we do. We’re a small family company set up in 2017 by local couple Rae Howells and Phil Poucher. What started with a few lavender plants in our garden and a crazy idea about growing in partnership with mother nature, is now three lavender patches across the outstandingly beautiful Gower peninsula, and a range of gorgeous

lavender soaps, lavender hand creams, aromatherapy pillow sprays, lavender syrup and lavender hearts that we sell through independent retailers, at markets, or send out from us to you across the UK. We grow in harmony with nature, allowing pollinators to feed before our crop is lovingly brought in by hand, and then made into luxurious products and gift sets that we package in eco-friendly compostable boxes. We hope you enjoy exploring our eco luxury range.

2025 was the WILDEST ride… we almost can’t believe what we’ve packed in! 🎢💜

Yes, there were big things we were expecting - it was a huge year for our eldest with GCSEs, prom, and with great results she made the jump to college. And of course we had the usual chaos of running the business, doing markets and stocking up our wonderful retailers.

But then came the nice surprises - an invitation to Buckingham Palace and a quick chat with the Queen, a trip to speak at Oxford University’s poetry society, and getting published in the Afonydd/ Rivers anthology. We welcomed new stockists and developed new products, and had a lovely Greek holiday.

But the biggest loop-the-loop of all was the farm of dreams… It took us 18 months to sell our house (and three buyers), and the farm purchase almost fell through several times too. I have never been so stressed and had my hopes raised and dashed so many times. But finally in June we got the keys, moved in the middle of poor Gwenni’s exams, to a house with a broken alarm we couldn’t switch off, dodgy central heating and a mysterious coughing sound that someone told us was a ghost! (It wasn’t!!) The new neighbours woke us early… a nest of sparrow chicks in the bedroom vent 🥰

Then the builders arrived. Wonderful chaos as they renovated the first outbuildings so we could move the business to the farm. In just over four months miracles were worked and we made our first soap at the workshop in December. We also realised the farm came with other responsibilities - an orchard full of apples (we made juice, crumble, cake, sauce and cider).

Then in the middle of prepping for Christmas I tripped and fell on my face. I broke my nose, teeth and pride, and did something bad to my arm. Thank goodness I could still drive to get to all our markets 😅

Surrounding us through every up and down are our amazing support network - my parents Joy and Mei, my sister Jo, my nieces Ffi and Lwsi, my friend and chief soap-maker Noe and lots more friends and family… And of course you! Our customers! Thanks everyone!

Here’s to 2026 eh? Hopefully a bit calmer!!

Thanks for being the best customers and supporters we could ask for. It’s been an amazing if bonkers year, moving us all to the farm of dreams in the middle of the eldest’s GCSEs… but now we can’t wait for the year to come.

In a bid to use less plastic I bought some lavender and lavender beer soaps - they smelled amazing when they arrived in eco-friendly packaging, but the lavender scent when you use them is not in any way overpowering.
